  • Citric acid: You can find citric acid here online. It adds tang to this recipe. You can replace citric acid with vinegar powder if you’ve got a spice store nearby.
  • Sugar: The sugar in this recipe doesn’t make it sweet, but it does balance the tang from the citric acid.
  • Dried dill: Dried dill weed is larger than the other spices in this seasoning,g so I recommend pulsing it in the food processor to keep it evenly distributed. 
  • Salt: This recipe uses table salt as it blends more evenly.

Uses for Dill Pickle Seasoning

  • Popcorn: Sprinkle is over buttered popcorn.
  • French Fries: Spritz homemade or frozen fries with oil and toss with the seasoning.
  • Chicken Wings: Use as a dry rub for chicken or chicken thighs.
  • Add To Bread Crumbs: Add to breading to pickle all of your breaded favorites.
  • Roasted Veggies: Toss potatoes, cauliflower, or Brussels sprouts in olive oil and season before roasting.
  • Dips: Mix equal parts sour cream and mayonnaise with a couple of tablespoons of seasoning for a delicious chip dip. Add finely chopped pickles if you’d like.

Homemade Dill Pickle Seasoning

Use this homemade dill pickle seasoning to season popcorn, French fries, dips, vegetables, and more!

Equipment

Ingredients  

  • 1 tablespoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ¼ teaspoon citric acid
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon mustard powder

Instructions 

  • Combine all ingredients in a small food processor, spice grinder, or blender. Pulse a few times to combine.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
  • Sprinkle on popcorn, pasta, or mix into sour cream as a dip.

Notes

You can find citric acid here online however, you need a very small amount. If you can buy bulk ingredients at a store near you, it’s a great place to buy just a little bit.
  • Citric acid is strong and adds a tang to this recipe. Start with a small amount as directed. 
  • Dried dill weed is larger than the other spices in this seasoning. Pulsing it in the food processor helps to keep it more evenly distributed. 
  • Do not use kosher salt as it will not blend well in this mixture.
