4 Easy Ingredients

Cream Cheese: Use full-fat cream cheese for the richest flavor and smoothest texture, or whipped cream cheese for easier spreading. Make sure it’s softened to room temperature so it spreads evenly without tearing the ham. You can also try flavored cream cheese, like chive or jalapeño, for a fun twist.

Pickles: Use whole dill pickles for the classic tangy crunch, but make sure they’re not too large so they roll easily. Baby dills or sandwich stackers can also work if you want smaller bites or a flatter roll. Avoid sweet pickles, as they can clash with the savory flavors.

Ham: Use thinly sliced deli ham that’s sturdy enough to roll without tearing—black forest or honey ham work well. Avoid overly wet or very thin slices, as they can get soggy or rip. For extra flavor, try smoked or maple-glazed ham.

Variations: Deli-sliced roast beef or even ready-to-eat sandwich meats can be swapped for the ham. A meatless version can be made by switching out soft flour tortillas for the ham slices.

Recipe Tip!

If you’re like me and always forget to remove the cream cheese from the refrigerator, you can speed up the process by warming it on very low power for 30 – 60 seconds in the microwave.

Storing Dill Pickle Roll Ups

Dill pickle roll ups can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance. Keep them tightly wrapped in plastic wrap and refrigerated until ready to slice and serve. This helps the flavors meld and makes slicing easier, too.
